This week is Economic Development Week (EDW).  Established by the International Economic Development Council, the goal of EDW is to increase awareness for local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities and increase the quality of life.

Throughout this week, we at the Cayuga Economic Development Agency (CEDA) will be sharing information via blog posts, social media and more about what economic development means for our community in Cayuga County.

We would like to congratulate CEDA’s Economic Development Specialist Bruce Sherman on his appointment as ex-officio board member of the Central New York International Business Alliance (CNY IBA)!

The CNYIBA was formed to enhance global sales of businesses in the 12-county CenterState, NY region.  It is the Small Business Administration’s designated regional Export Outreach Team.  The CNYIBA connects companies that may be new to exporting with mentors experienced in the practice.  The organization provides its members with  information regarding international trade, financing, marketing and other essential information to support their businesses.

Bruce is no stranger to the organization.  He has worked with Steven King, export director of the CNYIBA, to help several Cayuga County manufacturers and producers begin and expand exporting.  To grow your business in Cayuga County, contact Bruce at bsherman@cayugaeda.org to schedule a free and confidential meeting.

Stay posted!  Tomorrow, we will have more valuable information that will shed more light on economic development and the impact it has on our community.
