Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) Round 7 Awards announcement yesterday brought plenty of good news to our Central New York (CNY) region and, even closer to home, Cayuga County.  Central New York was announced as a “top performer” along with four other of the 10 REDCs and was awarded $86.4M to 112 projects that applied for funding from state programs this year.

Of the $86.4M coming to the CNY region, $44.9M will go to specific projects and $41M for as of yet unassigned tax credits and bonds. A complete listing of projects, descriptions, and amounts awarded can be viewed in the 2017 REDC Round 7 Awards Booklet. The CNY projects begin on page 48 and are listed alphabetically by region beginning with Cayuga County.  Of the $44.9M in project specific funding, 25 Cayuga County projects were awarded $12.1M.  That accounts for 27% of the total project funding for CNY. There were an additional 6 projects that are regional and include Cayuga that were awarded $2.67M or 3.1% of CNY project funding.

We are very excited that our home county has done so well in this round of NYS funding.  We look forward to the beneficial changes this assistance will bring to our community and will have more to share next week about this great news.  In the meantime, congratulations to all the businesses and organizations whose projects were recognized yesterday!  Your hard work and dedication helps our community thrive and is what makes Cayuga County such a wonderful place to live, work, and play.
